Online air rifle competitions hosted from Centre

The World Archery Excellence Centre has been hosting online rifle shooting competitions for Make a Mark athletes and Indian athletes from Rakesh Manpat’s Elite Shooting Academy. Already, three have taken place this year.

“The experience has been great. We are able to virtually connect and feel the excitement of competition,” said Rakesh Manpat. “It’s an inspiration for me and all the other academy shooters.”

These online competition have helped athletes feel like a part of a large community, especially during the pandemic. The cross-country bonding has maintained motivation to train, even with travel restrictions in place.

“I hope the athletes have learned from this experience and it holds them in better stead for the future,” said Abhinav Bindra, India’s first individual Olympic gold medallist.

The online competition will continue throughout the year.
